Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced on Thursday (September 27, 2025) that Starbucks will close hundreds of stores this month, representing approximately 1 percent of its total stores.[1]

The company had 18,734 stores in North America at the end of June and said it expects to have only 18,300 stores by the end of September.
