Ferrari SpA (Ferrari) has lost a trademark dispute against local energy drink brand Sunrise-Mark Sdn Bhd after the High Court ruled that the latter’s “Wee Power” logo was not confusingly similar to Ferrari’s iconic “Prancing Horse” emblem. In a judgment, Judge Adlin Abdul Majid dismissed Ferrari’s challenge to block Sunrise-Mark’s trademark registration, stating that the Italian carmaker’s claims of potential confusion were unfounded.[1]

Ferrari had sought to overturn a decision by the Registrar of Trademarks which dismissed its opposition and allowed Sunrise-Mark’s application for the “Wee Power” trademark, featuring two rearing horses, a large “W”, and the words “Wee Power”. “The plaintiffs mark is a device mark with one rearing horse while the defendant’s mark contains two rearing horses facing each other,” said Adlin, who found that the marks were visually and conceptually distinct.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Kodak is one of the world's most recognized camera manufacturers. This happened after George Eastman, Kodak's founder, invented the modern camera in 1888, which became a milestone in the history of modern photography. The Kodak company became a legend until its rise to fame was halted in 2013 due to bankruptcy.[1]

Eastman is widely known for his success in creating dry plates for photography, eliminating the hassle of carrying chemicals. This dry plate was later patented, leading the bank employee to enter the photography business under the banner of the Eastman Dry Plate Company in 1881. Seven years later, he and William Hall Walker created the modern analog camera called the Kodak. Thanks to Kodak, people no longer had to carry bulky photography equipment; they simply needed a handheld camera.[2]

Unfortunately, Kodak, known for its ingenuity, went bankrupt in 2013. The reason was a failure to innovate, particularly regarding the invention of the digital camera, which has become commonplace today. The next two to three decades saw the world of photography move rapidly. The underrated digital camera emerged, outperforming its analog counterpart. By this point, Kodak had lost ground, as digital cameras had already been invented by other manufacturers. Efforts to innovate had failed. Consequently, this situation exacerbated Kodak's financial difficulties. Ultimately, the legendary company went bankrupt in 2013.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday filed a lawsuit challenging a New York state law that blocks immigration officials from arresting individuals at or near New York courthouses. The complaint, filed in federal court in Albany, New York, alleges the law frustrates federal immigration enforcement at a venue - state courthouses - where authorities can safely make arrests. U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi said New York was employing policies similar to those used by California to prevent "illegal aliens from apprehension."[1]

"This latest lawsuit in a series of sanctuary city litigation underscores the Department of Justice’s commitment to keeping Americans safe and aggressively enforcing the law," she said in a statement. A spokesperson for New York Attorney General Letitia James said the state will defend the law, arguing it "ensures every New Yorker can access our courts and pursue justice without fear."[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Canned fruit company Del Monte Foods is pursuing a sale as it filed for bankruptcy in the United States. This company entered a restructuring support agreement with lenders and started voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings to implement its terms, it said on July 1. A filing with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey states that Del Monte Foods has both liabilities and assets estimated between US$1 billion and US$10 billion.[1]

The company secured a commitment for US$912.5 million (S$1.16 billion) in debtor-in-possession financing, inclusive of US$165 million in new funding, from certain existing lenders. The development ends a challenging year for the borrower that saw its parent Del Monte Pacific in June elect to skip a payment to the unit’s lenders as part of a lawsuit settlement tied to a controversial debt restructuring. Del Monte Foods said in its statement that the restructuring support agreement contemplates the company undertaking a going-concern sale process for all or substantially all of its assets. Financing along with cash from ongoing operations is expected to provide sufficient liquidity during the sale process and fund ongoing operations, as it intends to keep serving customers, according to the statement.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Bolivia is Struggling With a Risk of Defaulting On Its Foreign Debts

Previously, the www.hukumindo.com platform has talk about "Step-by-Step Guide How to Set Up a Company in Indonesia as a Foreigner", "Legally, Islands in Indonesian Territory Cannot Be Bought or Sold", you may read also "Parking for Just a Few Hours Costs Millions" and on this occasion we will discuss about 'Bolivia is Struggling With a Risk of Defaulting On Its Foreign Debts'.

Bolivia is currently struggling with an economic crisis that is at risk of defaulting on its foreign debts. Adding to the social and economic unrest among the people. Bolivian President Luis Arce Catacora said the risk of defaulting on its debts would increase if the country did not immediately obtain new funding sources. "We are trying not to default. We have the intention to pay our debts, but what if we do not have the resources?" Arce said in an interview at his office in La Paz, Bolivia's capital. Bolivia's debt has reached US$13.3 billion or equivalent to IDR. 218.06 trillion (exchange rate of IDR. 16,396/US dollar). Most of this debt comes from the Inter-American Development Bank, the Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank (CAF), the World Bank, and China. According to the World Bank, the amount of debt that is burdening Bolivia represents more than 37% of its gross national income. The last time the country defaulted on its debts was 41 years ago in 1984.[1]

On the other hand, Arce admitted that the government did not get permission from parliament to seek new loans worth US$ 1.8 billion or IDR. 29.51 trillion from multilateral institutions. Meanwhile, according to him, the country needed US$ 2.6 billion or IDR. 42.62 trillion in December for fuel imports and foreign debt payments. "We made the worst deal as a country. Because when a country has foreign debt, you pay principal and interest to creditors, and that dollar outflow is compensated by the inflow of new disbursements from new debt, which is not happening," he said.[2]

It should be noted that Bolivia is home to 12 million people and the majority of the population is indigenous. They are one of the poorest countries on the continent despite having abundant natural resources such as gas and lithium. This condition began in 2023 when the state-owned oil and gas company, YPFB, said Bolivia was running out of natural gas due to a lack of investment in new exploration. Even though natural gas is the country's most important export product. The sharp drop in natural gas exports has caused foreign exchange reserves to plummet, leaving Bolivia unable to import enough of the heavily subsidized fuel for the domestic market. Inflation has continued to hit a record high of 18.4% year-on-year in May, the highest in nearly two decades, and the local currency, the Boliviano, has continued to lose value.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.
