Irish Foreign Minister Helen McEntee stated that her country opposes a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran without a UN mandate. "My position and the government's position are clear—the current US and Israeli military operations do not have a mandate or authorization from the United Nations, and there is no attempt to seek such authorization," McEntee said in parliament on Thursday (March 5, 2026). She emphasized that Ireland's stance against the use of military force outside the framework of a UN mandate has long been clear and widely known.[1]

McEntee also emphasized that all countries must comply with international law and the principles of the UN Charter. She stated that the UN system is a vital security factor for small countries, including Ireland. On February 28, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks on several targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran then launched retaliatory missile attacks on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. The attacks occurred amid nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman and taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.[2]

Police in the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Dubai, have arrested a beggar caught carrying 20,000 dirhams (approximately IDR 90 million) in cash. The arrest was made during a special operation to eradicate illegal begging in the country. Dubai Police stated that the perpetrator was apprehended in a public parking area by a team from the Department of Suspicious Persons and Criminal Phenomena. This operation is part of the "Combating Begging" campaign, conducted in collaboration with several strategic partners. [1]

Local authorities consider begging not only illegal but also damaging to the city's image and often involves organized fraud. Beggars specifically target luxury vehicle owners in parking lots and at traffic lights. They use false stories of extreme poverty and hunger to incite compassion among motorists. The Dubai government is currently intensifying its crackdown on begging, especially during Ramadan. Under UAE federal law, begging is a criminal offense subject to strict penalties. Singapore Forms Committee to Address Legal Profession Crisis

(iStock)

Previously, the www.hukumindo.com platform has talk about "Two Dutch Prisoners Repatriated For Humanitarian Considerations", "Bong Chun Nam's Story About Changing His Name to Benny Gunawan", you may read also "Indonesia and Australia Agree on Joint Security Treaty" and on this occasion we will discuss about 'Singapore Forms Committee to Address Legal Profession Crisis'.

Singapore has taken a strategic step to address serious challenges in the legal profession by establishing a high-level committee to address the high rate of lawyer attrition and the impact of developments in artificial intelligence (AI) on legal practice. The committee will be co-chaired by the Minister for Law and the Chief Justice of Singapore. This follows a survey of young lawyers conducted in 2024 and 2025, which found that approximately 60 percent of respondents planned to leave legal practice within the next five years. The main reasons driving this decision included excessive workload, poor work-life balance, mental health pressures, lack of work flexibility, unhealthy workplace culture, and offers of better compensation in other sectors.[1]

The committee will consist of representatives from various stakeholders, with the goal of formulating policy directions and sustainable solutions to keep the legal profession relevant, healthy, and attractive to new generations. The changing global and digital landscape brings new challenges. The digital era is accelerating the pace of legal work, increasing client demands, and expanding cross-border interactions. Meanwhile, advances in AI are beginning to transform the way lawyers work, from legal research to document analysis.[2]

While technology offers efficiencies, there are concerns that over-reliance on AI could erode fundamental legal skills, such as legal analysis, reasoning, and argumentation. Furthermore, not all aspects of the legal profession can be replaced by technology, particularly human skills such as ethical judgment, negotiation, and face-to-face courtroom interaction. This committee is expected to balance the use of technology with human resource development, while addressing issues of well-being and work culture.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Two Dutch Prisoners Repatriated For Humanitarian Considerations

The Indonesian government will repatriate two Dutch prisoners after receiving a request from the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the transfer for prisoners mechanism. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, revealed that he had communicated with Dutch Foreign Minister David Van Weel regarding the planned repatriation of the two prisoners. "There are two people who have requested to be transferred to the Netherlands," Yusril said. The two prisoners in question are Siegfried Mets (73) and Ali Tokman (64), who were involved in narcotics crimes and were sentenced to death and life imprisonment, respectively. The reason for the repatriation is humanitarian considerations, as both are elderly and in poor health. "Our government has given the green light for these two men to return them to the Netherlands," Yusril stated.[1]

He explained that the repatriation does not change the Indonesian court's decision. However, Yusril explained, after their repatriation, the legal process for the two men is under the jurisdiction of the Netherlands. "Then the task of further development is handed over to the country concerned. So, it doesn't change our court's decision at all, which was to sentence Siegfried Mets to death and Ali Tokman to life imprisonment," Yusril said. "But will they be granted pardon? Will they be granted remission, clemency, and so on? That actually depend to the Dutch government," he said.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Bong Chun Nam's Story About Changing His Name to Benny Gunawan

Among the congregation who came to worship at the Hok Lay Kiong Temple was Benny Gunawan (65), he stood calmly welcoming visitors. Not many people know that this man, who has lived in Bekasi for two decades, has another name, namely Bong Chun Nam. This name was given to him by his parents when he was born in 1961 in Singkawang, West Kalimantan. "My Chinese name was given to me by my parents when I was born. I am already part of the third generation. In my family, we are called by Chinese names," said Benny.[1]

His family still knew him as Bong Chun Nam. However, on official government documents, his name was listed as Benny Gunawan. Benny still remembers the major changes that occurred in the mid-1960s. At that time, Indonesia experienced political turmoil that had a wide impact on the lives of its Chinese descendants. During the New Order era, from 1966 to 1998, assimilation policies were strictly enforced. Through various regulations, including Presidential Decree No. 240 of 1967, Chinese cultural expression was restricted, and many Chinese citizens were encouraged and even administratively required to change their names to Indonesian ones. "In that year, the political situation was a bit turbulent. So there was a ban on the use of Chinese names. Since then, all our documents have been changed to Indonesian names. There are no written Chinese names anymore, now only verbally," said Benny. He admitted that the name change was not a personal choice, but rather an administrative requirement at the time.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Indonesia and Australia Agree on Joint Security Treaty

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received a working visit from the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (6/2/2026). This visit resulted in the signing of the Joint Security Treaty as an effort to maintain peace in the Indo-Pacific region. "This joint security agreement reflects the determination of both countries to continue to work closely together in maintaining their respective national security, as well as to make a real contribution to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region. For Indonesia, this reflects a firm commitment to the principle of good neighborliness and our independent and active foreign policy," stated President Prabowo. Meanwhile, PM Albanese added that the signing of this agreement is a continuation of a long process that began with a bilateral meeting in Sydney, in November last year. The newly agreed Joint Security Treaty emphasizes strengthening bilateral consultation mechanisms that include a regular consultation forum for heads of state to discuss regional and global security situations, following up on the Defense Cooperation Agreement that Indonesia and Australia have agreed to since 2006.[1]

In addition, the two countries also opened up opportunities to strengthen cooperation, including military education exchanges, the development of joint training facilities, and the placement of senior Indonesian officers in the Australian Defense Force. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono underscored the urgency of strengthening collaboration and intensive communication with countries in the region to mitigate various challenges, in line with the principles of good neighborly diplomacy. "So in a situation like this, communication and collaboration are essential. Therefore, a common understanding of the global situation is needed," said Foreign Minister Sugiono. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that this treaty is not a binding military defense pact, but rather a constructive consultation forum. Foreign Minister Sugiono added that this type of consultation mechanism is a common practice in Indonesian diplomacy, as is the consultation forum Indonesia has with other partner countries.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

After Winning a Lawsuit Against His Son, a 97-year-old Man Can Legally Remarry

This love story comes from across the border in Singapore. An elderly man won a lawsuit after his biological son tried to prevent him from remarrying. The son believed his father was mentally incompetent, while the grandfather believed he was still healthy and had the right to make his own life choices.[1]

The man was known to have married in 1950 and had three children. However, in 1971, he had an illicit relationship with his secretary, resulting in the birth of another child. Despite this, his wife remained by his side until her death in 2014. Two years after her death, his longtime girlfriend moved in with him. Their relationship had actually lasted for decades. Problems began to arise in 2021, when the grandfather announced plans to officially marry the woman.[2]

Upon hearing the news, his second son filed a lawsuit in family court. He asked the judge to declare his father legally incompetent. The reasoning was that his father was said to be suffering from dementia after a fall in 2017 and was allegedly easily manipulated by his girlfriend. During the trial, medical evidence showed that the 97-year-old did indeed experience some short-term memory loss due to age. However, doctors confirmed that he was still in good enough condition to make important decisions, including those regarding marriage and property.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Former Indian Police Officer Released After Serving 30 Years

A former police officer in Gujarat, India, was released after serving about 30 years in prison on charges of accepting a bribe of 20 rupees or around IDR. 3,700. He was released after the court finally declared him not guilty, but he died the next day. Babubhai Prajapati (64) had spent about 30 years behind bars after being convicted in 1996 on charges of accepting a bribe of 20 rupees from a truck driver. His case dragged on in the legal system for decades, with his appeal pending for 22 years before the Gujarat High Court acquitted him last Wednesday.[1]

Prajapati died on Thursday or a day after the long-awaited court ruling to clear his name. The verdict, as well as his death, has tragically ended a protracted legal battle that lasted almost his entire adult life. Prajapati's family and local lawyers have not spoken publicly about his death or the pending legal or compensation efforts, but his story has been widely shared as a stark example of the human consequences associated with a slow criminal appeals process.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

UN Secretary-General: 'The law of the jungle' has replaced international law

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the global order is being eroded as the rule of international law is being replaced by what he called the “law of the jungle.” While urging a renewed commitment to multilateralism and accountability, Guterres asserted that “the rule of law is the foundation of global peace and security” during the UN Security Council’s open debate entitled “Reaffirming the Rule of International Law: A Path to Re-Enforcing Peace, Justice and Multilateralism.” The Portuguese politician recalled that in 2024, UN member states adopted a “Pact for the Future,” which included a commitment “to act in accordance with international law and fulfill obligations in good faith,” but he warned that “words are not being matched by actions.”[1]

Around the world, the rule of law is being replaced by the law of the jungle,” he said. “We are seeing flagrant violations of international law and a brazen disregard for the UN Charter.” Referring to conflicts “from Gaza to Ukraine, from the Sahel to Myanmar, in Venezuela and elsewhere,” he stressed that “law enforcement is being treated like an à la carte menu.” He emphasized that countries are violating international law “with impunity” through “illegal use of force, targeting of civilian infrastructure, human rights violations and abuses, illegal development of nuclear weapons, unconstitutional changes of government, and a blanket approach to life-saving humanitarian aid.” “These violations are setting a dangerous precedent, encouraging other countries to do what they want, rather than what international law requires,” he warned.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

12 Mile, a Biopic of Mochtar Kusumaatmadja

Previously, the www.hukumindo.com platform has talk about "Legal Dispute Over Lava Treasure Discovery", "Contoh Surat Perjanjian Sewa Peralatan Konstruksi", you may read also "Employee Fired for Refusing to Attend Office Party Deemed Boring" and on this occasion we will discuss about '12 Mile, a Biopic of Mochtar Kusumaatmadja'.

The film "12 Mile: Guiding the Archipelago," produced by MAI Productions, depicts the struggle of the late Foreign Minister and national hero, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, in establishing an archipelagic state and the Indonesian Archipelago Outlook as a concept accepted by international law. According to "12 Mile" director Tubagus Deddy, while older generations may only remember Mochtar from his time as foreign minister on TVRI, he remains a lesser-known hero to the younger generation. "Even before, we didn't know what he did to become a national hero. However, after researching, it turned out that Mochtar's thoughts, despite his simplicity, were of international caliber," Deddy said at a press conference ahead of the exclusive screening of "12 Mile" in Central Jakarta on Wednesday evening.[1]

He explained that the premise of the film stems from Indonesia's 25-year diplomatic struggle to realize the concept of an archipelagic state, from being opposed by major countries to being recognized by the world through UNCLOS 1982. It also shows Mochtar's position as both a skilled diplomat and a father and head of the family in the film. Deddy said that one of the challenges in making the film "12 Mile" was translating the basic concepts of international maritime laws into an audiovisual form that could be accepted by the audience. The reason is, the concept of maritime law that Mochtar fought for throughout his life might be too complicated for the audience if presented simply, said the director who was also involved as a scriptwriter in the film "Ancika" (2024).[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

Legal Dispute Over Lava Treasure Discovery

The story begins nearly four decades ago, when Felix, his twin sister Ange Biancamaria, and Marc Cotoni, were diving for sea urchins in the waters west of Corsica. Félix Biancamaria, a diver who in 1985 discovered a Roman treasure worth millions of euros. Unexpectedly, they found hundreds of rare gold coins from the 3rd century AD, complete with a Roman gold plate now estimated to be worth up to 8 million euros or around Rp. 160 billion. The find is known as the "Lava Treasure" and is believed to consist of up to thousands of gold coins minted during the reigns of four Roman emperors, including Gallienus and Aurelianus. Experts call it one of the most important monetary treasures from the 3rd century AD ever discovered.[1]

Initially, the coins were sold discreetly at low prices. However, the sale of several rare coins to mainland France attracted the attention of the international numismatic community. Claims that the coins were family heirlooms were eventually debunked after authorities discovered a pattern of repeated dives and the finders' surge in wealth. In 1986, the appearance of dozens of rare aurei on the auction market aroused public suspicion. However, much of the treasure has since been dispersed to private collections in various countries. The total Lava treasure is estimated at up to 1,400 coins and gold medallions, but only 83 have been recovered.[2]

This accidental discovery at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea turned into a major legal case that landed Félix Biancamaria in court. Felix had been convicted in 1994 for selling some of the gold coins. However, the existence of the gold plates was only revealed in 2010, when he was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, carrying the historical objects in his bag. Authorities believed he was trying to sell them illegally, and he was tried on charges of smuggling French national treasures. In France, all treasure found at the bottom of the sea belongs to the state.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

A man was fired from his company for a unique reason. He was unilaterally dismissed because he was considered boring. The employee certainly didn't accept being treated unprofessionally. He then tried to get his former company to pay for their mistakes. Cubik Partners, a management consulting firm, apparently wants all employees to be close friends. The company is said to encourage its employees to build teamwork by spending frequent time together. When one employee refused to participate, the France-based firm terminated the employment relationship.[1]

The man, identified as Mr. T, was fired in 2015. At the time, he frequently refused to participate in seminars and weekend drinking events. Mr. T apparently annoyed his superiors and colleagues by frequently missing these events, finding them boring. Mr. T was dissatisfied with this decision and filed a lawsuit against his former company. He felt entitled to be critical and rejected the company's policy of forcing him to participate in various events outside of work hours. Mr. T also refused to attend office events because they would require him to share a bed with a coworker.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has spoken out regarding Indonesia's membership in the Board of Peace (BOP) initiated by United States President Donald Trump. Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela stated that Indonesia's membership aims to encourage an end to violence, protect civilians, and expand access to humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza. "We also view this Board of Peace as a temporary mechanism to stop violence and protect civilians," he said in an online press conference on Thursday (January 22, 2026).[1]

He added that this process is an effort to achieve goals that align with Indonesia's principles of supporting Palestinian independence and a two-state solution based on international law and UN resolutions. It was previously reported that Indonesia, along with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), agreed to join the Peace Council. These countries stated that the decision was taken collectively as a form of support for the Trump-led peace efforts, particularly regarding the conflict in Gaza.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has officially extradited Russian citizen Aleksandr Vladimirovich Zverev back to his home country. Zverev's handover to the Russian Federation Government came after Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto approved the extradition request. The handover took place at the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office. "President Prabowo has approved the extradition request for Aleksandr Vladimirovich Zverev. The repatriation process will be carried out in accordance with international legal procedures and cooperation between law enforcement authorities of both countries," the Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center told reporters.[1]

Zveres was reportedly arrested by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) on March 22, 2022, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The arrest was based on a red notice issued by Interpol and coordination with Russian authorities. "The crime was committed within the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. The perpetrator is also a Russian citizen, so in this case, Indonesia has no real interest in prosecuting him," the Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center said.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.

The Republic of Indonesia's Position Regarding the US Attack on Venezuela

Indonesia expressed concern over the United States' attack on Venezuela and warned that the move risks setting a very bad and dangerous precedent in international relations. In a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) via social media X, monitored Monday, it was stated that the Indonesian government continues to closely monitor developments in Venezuela. "Indonesia expresses deep concern over any action involving the use or threat of force that risks setting a dangerous precedent in international relations," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.[1]

This step, said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also risks disrupting regional stability and peace, as well as weakening the principles of sovereignty and diplomacy. Indonesia emphasized that the international community must respect the rights and will of the Venezuelan people to exercise their sovereignty and determine the direction and future of their nation's journey. Then, as in the previous statement delivered on Saturday (3/1/2026), the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Indonesia called on all parties to "prioritize dialogue and self-restraint, and comply with international law such as the Charter of the United Nations and international humanitarian law." Indonesia also reminded that the protection of civilians must always be prioritized amid the escalating situation occurring in the South American country.[2]
