The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has spoken out regarding Indonesia's membership in the Board of Peace (BOP) initiated by United States President Donald Trump. Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela stated that Indonesia's membership aims to encourage an end to violence, protect civilians, and expand access to humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza. "We also view this Board of Peace as a temporary mechanism to stop violence and protect civilians," he said in an online press conference on Thursday (January 22, 2026).[1]

He added that this process is an effort to achieve goals that align with Indonesia's principles of supporting Palestinian independence and a two-state solution based on international law and UN resolutions. It was previously reported that Indonesia, along with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), agreed to join the Peace Council.
