Eight universities recalled thousands of students participating in Community Service Programs (KKN) in Lumajang, East Java, following a motorcycle theft. The eight universities are the University of Jember, the University of Lumajang, the KH Achmad Shidiq State Islamic University of Jember, the Islamic University of Jember, the PGRI Lumajang Teacher Training College (STKIP PGRI Lumajang), the College of Development Administration, the PGRI Argopuro University of Jember, and the Jember Health Polytechnic. The universities agreed to suspend the KKN program for the safety and well-being of their students.[1]

The students were initially spread across 102 villages in Lumajang Regency to carry out community service (KKN) programs. However, the situation turned tense after four of the students' motorcycles were stolen in two locations.
