Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the challenges facing the legal world in the digital era are increasingly complex, one of which is the influence of artificial intelligence (AI). "Entering the digital era, legal challenges are becoming increasingly complex. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain are starting to penetrate the legal realm," said Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra when delivering a presentation on legal material at an international law conference organized by Andalas University (UNAND), West Sumatra. With the increasingly complex challenges facing the legal world in the digital era, Yusril said that this condition requires the judicial system in the country to adapt. For example, he said, the Supreme Court has begun a transformation through the implementation of an e-court system and online publications.[1]
However, according to Yusril, a shift in mindset and judicial approach is also needed to anticipate the unique characteristics of cases in today's digital age. At the same time, a new phenomenon has emerged on social media that reflects a crisis of confidence in the legal system: the term "no viral, no justice." "Cases that go viral often receive greater attention from law enforcement, while cases that don't go viral tend to be overlooked," he said.[2]
In his public lecture, Prof. Yusril explained that after the 1945 Proclamation of Independence, Indonesia inherited various colonial regulations. However, the government attempted to build a new legal foundation based on Pancasila and the amended 1945 Constitution. The Pancasila doctrine formulated by Soepomo and his colleagues emphasized the need for a legal system rooted in the strength of customary law and the nation's cultural values. From this long historical journey, Yusril said, the public can see that Indonesian law is fundamentally pluralistic, integrating Western ideas about the rule of law, socio-cultural conceptions of justice, and the moral foundations of religion.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.
