A female employee has been fired from Australia's largest bank after 25 years of service. Ironically, she was replaced by the artificial intelligence (AI) system she had trained. Kathryn Sullivan (63) was dismissed from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) in July, along with 44 other employees. This marked the first time that a layoff was directly linked to the bank's use of AI technology.[1]

Sullivan said he didn't realize his role in scripting and testing responses for the bank's AI chatbot, called 'Bumblebee', would cost him his job.
