A driver of a Singapore-registered car refueled with subsidized RON 95 fuel at a gas station in Johor, Malaysia. Consequently, he was fined RM 20,000—approximately IDR 88 million (based on an exchange rate of IDR 4,400). The car owner, aged around 50, pleaded guilty to the charges. Sessions Court Judge Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim handed down the sentence and ordered the defendant to serve a three-month prison term if the fine remained unpaid. The man paid the fine in full on the same day, the man as a foreign national from Singapore, though his identity was not publicly disclosed.[1]

This case reportedly involves the driver of a black Honda Civic, believed to be the first person arrested in Johor since the new regulations regarding the purchase of subsidized petrol came into effect on April 1, 2026. The violation occurred on April 9, when officers from Malaysia's Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living caught the man filling his vehicle with subsidized petrol at a service station in Johor.[2] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.
