The Indonesian Advocates Movement Council (DePA-RI) and the Singaporean advocate organization, The Law Society of Singapore (LSS), strengthened cross-border legal cooperation through audiences and discussions on professional development in the field and handling international corporate cases. In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, DePA-RI Chairman TM Luthfi Yazid assessed the visit of the delegation of Singaporean advocate organizations as an important step to expand legal collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, especially amidst increasing cross-border investment and business activities. Luthfi said that cooperation between advocate institutions is necessary to strengthen legal harmonization, increase the capacity of the advocate profession, and provide legal protection for business actors in both countries.[1]

He expressed his hope that the relationship between DePA-RI and the Law Society of Singapore would continue to develop sustainably and benefit both countries. "Although I couldn't shake hands with Prof. Tan Cheng Han or my old friend Lisa Sam, I am confident that this meeting will be productive and mark the beginning of a collaborative partnership that will be mutually respectful and beneficial to both legal organizations and our two friendly countries, Indonesia and Singapore," Luthfi said in his remarks online from abroad.[2]

The visit by the Law Society of Singapore delegation follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two organizations on August 15, 2025, in Singapore. The Singaporean lawyers' delegation was led by President Tan Cheng Han, along with several lawyers from various law firms in Singapore. During the meeting, Tan Cheng Han emphasized the importance of strengthening legal cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore, particularly in addressing investment challenges, cross-border corporate cases, and upholding the principle of the rule of law. "Cooperation in the legal field between these two friendly countries is crucial to creating mutually beneficial harmony," he said.[3] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us for business inquiry, feel free in 24 hour, we will be glad to assist you.
