France Condemns US and Israeli Military Action in Iranian Territory

France has surprisingly strongly condemned the military action launched by the United States (US) and Israel against Iranian territory. Paris emphasized that it could not approve the attack because it was considered a violation of international law. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated that the joint airstrike targeting the Islamic Republic's territory was carried out without a strong legal basis. In addition to legality issues, Paris highlighted the lack of a transparent strategic objective in this large-scale military operation. "France cannot approve the attack by US and Israeli forces on Iran because it was carried out outside international law and without a clearly defined objective," Barrot said in an interview with France 2 television channel.[1]

Barrot further explained that, from the French government's perspective, the series of attacks lacked measurable strategic objectives. He considered these unilateral actions to fall short of globally recognized legal standards for resolving interstate conflicts. On the same occasion, Barrot reiterated his country's stance of distancing itself from the armed conflict in the Middle East. He assured that the French military would not be dragged into the operations led by Washington and Tel Aviv. "We do not approve of this war, and we are not participating in it," Barrot asserted.
