The United States (US) has temporarily suspended visa services for applicants worldwide. A US State Department spokesperson stated on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) that the department has launched global training across all US embassies and consulates, requiring visa service appointments to be adjusted to accommodate the training sessions. The State Department did not provide specific details regarding the training or its schedule. It merely stated that the training aims to assist consular officers in screening applicants who might potentially rely on US public benefits and to ensure a comprehensive and consistent evaluation of visa applicants.[1]
